1.形容词
一般这个时候：neither+单数名词，表示两者都不，如：
Neither answer is correct.
两个答案都不对。
Neither candidate was selected for the job.
申请这个工作的两个候选人都未获选上。
At first, neither man could speak.
起初，两个人都不会说。
Neither party is willing to compromise and herein lies the problem.
双方都不愿意妥协，问题就在这里。
Neither side would disclose details of the transaction
双方均不肯披露交易细节。
Can you come on Monday or Tuesday? I’m afraid neither day is possible.

2.代词
A. neither单独作主语或宾语，表示两者都不，如：
Neither had close friends at university 两个人在上大学时都没有亲密的朋友。
We invited both of them,but neither can come.
我邀请了他们两个人，可谁也不能来。
They both smiled; neither seemed likely to be aware of my absence for long.
他俩都笑了，看来两人都未意识到我已离开很长时间了。

3.neither 和not ……either可以互换使用，但是前一用法（常常倒装）稍显文绉绉；not ……either用法较为口语体。试比较：
He did not go,neither did she.=He didn’t go,and she didn’t go either.
他没有去，她也没有去。
He cannot speak ,neither can he hear.=He cannot speak,and cannot hear either.
他不能说话，也听不见。
I can't ever recall Dad hugging me. Neither did I sit on his knee.
= I can't ever recall Dad hugging me.And I didn’t sit on his knee either.
我不记得爸爸曾经抱过我，我也没在他膝盖上坐过。
I hadn't been to New York before and neither had Jane. = I hadn't been to New York before and Jane hadn't either.
我以前没有去过纽约，简也没去过。
She doesn't like the movie. Neither/Nor do I.
她不喜欢这部电影。我也不喜欢。
I haven't been to Sidney before and neither/nor has my wife.

注意：
1）、当主语是同一个人或物时，只能用nor,如：
I don’t know,nor do I care.我不知道，也不关心。
He won't be here on Monday, nor on Tuesday.
他星期一不在，星期二也不在。
He never behaves honestly, nor wisely.
他的行为既不诚实,也不聪明。
2）、当否定并列成分有两个以上时，只能用nor多次连接，如：
You can’t sing,nor can I,nor can she.你不会唱歌，我不会，她也不会。
4. neither… nor既不…(也不…)
Neither the TV nor the video actually work/works.（连接2个主语）
电视机和录像机都坏了。（考试时多用单数比较好）
Neither the students nor the teacher knows anything about it.
